St. Petersburg. June, 2012

We loved St. Petersburg!  There are fountains and parks everywhere.  It feels very European.  We explored many palaces, cathedrals, museums and rivers/canals.

Catherine's Palace

Pavlosk's Palace

The Hermitage Museum.  This was the winter palace for the tsars and it is magnificent by itself, and then they added European artwork.

Moscow Trip. June, 2012

We had a terrific trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg.  Here are some photos from Moscow first.  I'll get some from St. Petersburg up in the next post.  We learned a lot about Russian history and saw some amazing landmarks and gorgeous cathedrals.  Unforfunately, lots of cathedrals do not allow photography.  Even the subway stations were beautiful.  They are decorated with marble and statues like museums, each one unique.

International Children's Day

Our school held International Children's Day today. It was lots of fun! Each grade gave a performance based on a country during the opening ceremonies. Alyssa's class did a Chinese dance to celebrate the year of the dragon.  Then the kids experienced their host country, Russia. After lunch, the kids traveled in groups to visit different continents and do activities. I helped with North America, and luckily we had warm weather because it involved water balloons!  This school is so amazing!
