Australia Vacation: Part 1

We spent our holidays thawing out in Australia. It is summertime there, so we got to enjoy lots of sun and warm weather. We spent the the first week in Sydney and then the second on Hamilton Island, a WhitSunday Island in the Great Barrier Reef. We loved Australia!
We did lots of activities and there are tons of pictures, so I'll just touch on some highlights.
First is Sydney. We took the ferries everytime we could. We visited the Taronga Zoo which was awesome. Best zoo we've ever been to, and we've been to a lot. The zoo is built on the side of a mountain, so you take a gondola up to the entrance and then meander down. The enclosures were amazing and lots of new Australian animals plus neat elephant show and baby tigers. We took a day tour of the Blue Mountains which included a visit to a wildlife park where we fed kangaroos and cuddled on a koala. We visited the Maritime museum and aquarium and lots of restaurants. Christmas Day was spent at Manly Beach and also watched fireworks over Darling Harbour on Christmas Eve. Sydney is very family friendly, so Alyssa played at lots of playgrounds and water fountains and made lots of friends.
